Make sure you’ve completed your Seasonal SEO Checklist before you go walking in a winter wonderland! In this week’s video, Kelcey shares some important tips and reminders to keep you off of the SEO naughty list this year.

Welcome back to another Wednesday Workshop from Happy Hao Car!

The winter holidays are fast approaching and it’s always such an exciting time.

Between family visits, football, good food, and even better shopping, it’s not hard to see why the next couple of months are known as “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

With all that’s going on, it can be easy to forget about some of the important changes you need to make to your online presence; but forgetting these things can put a major damper on all the fun (and your bottom line).

So, in this week’s video we’re going to cover seven tips for creating the perfect Local SEO strategy this holiday season so you can stay on Santa’s nice list.

Let’s start with some optimization tips:

1. Make sure all information, especially contact information, is up to date on your site.

If you’ve moved locations or updated tracking numbers recently, you’ll want to make sure that this information is correct and crystal clear anywhere it is listed on your site, including your header, home page, and about & contact pages.

2. Spend some time on keyword research.

What was popular last year may not be this year; so it’s important to make sure that you’re creating content around topics that will move the needle in terms of visibility and ultimately sales.

3. Incorporate the keyword research you just did into your blog copy.

If holiday car decor is the hot topic this year, you’ll want to make sure that your blog content reflects that.

4. Make sure any hyper-relevant links are easily found.

If you have a piece of evergreen seasonal content, such as how to winterize your car, you’ll want to make sure it is easily found by the search crawlers.

We recommend linking to this content directly from somewhere the bots will easily find it; like the navigation or on the homepage. You can always remove these links after the holidays are over.

Hopefully your head isn’t spinning, yet. We’ve got just a few more suggestions to get you holiday-ready.

The final few tips are going to focus on Google My Business:

5. Make sure your hours are up to date on your listing.

This includes special hours, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas; and any other day on which you have revised hours.

After all, there’s nothing worse than a customer showing up to make a purchase, only to find out you’re closed.

6. Be hypervigilant about responding to reviews and questions.

Buyers will be extra scrutinous of businesses during this time of year to help them decide whom to buy from. You don’t want to put yourself out of the running because you have a bad review or important question that you’ve left untouched.

7. Use timely Google Posts to advertise sales and incentives.

Don’t wait until the last minute to share holiday deals on your Google listing or other social media. Start hyping up awesome specials a week or two in advance to get better visibility and awareness.

And don’t forget to add UTM tracking to every post so you can see how it performs in Google Analytics!

I hope these 7 seasonal SEO tips make your spirits bright this winter.
