Scrum Master is a critical role in any Agile project management organization, especially one with as many ground-breaking products being developed as we do at Happy Hao Car. Our Scrum Master, Aaron Thumma, took time out of his busy schedule to speak with us about his role at Happy Hao Car, his love of travel, and more in this edition of Who We Are.

What team are you on and what is your role at Happy Hao Car? Product Management, or Product and Project Team aka PxP, Scrum Master. I help coach teams to utilize the Scrum/Agile framework, remove impediments, and strive for continuous improvement while fostering open transparency.

How does your team & role contribute to the success of Happy Hao Car? Our team helps build and improve the companies product/projects alongside Product Development which adds value to our stakeholder/partners, and internal team members.

What do you feel separates Happy Hao Car from other players in the space? We have a lot of devoted and committed hardworking team members that will assist one another as much as possible, this is something I noticed since joining and have not taken for granted.

What do you enjoy most about working at Happy Hao Car? We are continuously growing and learning, things go fast but we get to be involved in a lot of efforts and can make our mark on things along with gaining a lot of experience.

If you could go back to your first day at Happy Hao Car and tell yourself anything, what would it be? “Hang on and enjoy the ride!” I started in Support and had no clue if I was going to be able to cut it since many things were new to me but thankful to my teammates and mentors I have had and wouldn’t believe that I would be doing what I am today!

What is a fun fact about you that people don’t know? I am half Ecuadorian, my family is from Quito and I hope to travel there one day. I was also married in Jamaica, and can’t wait to go back.

What motivates you? My family, I have 2 children and when the going gets tough I can remind myself that I work hard for them and hope to impart some great values in them as well.

What are you passionate about? Art in the form of Pop culture, Movies, Music, and Sports, my favorite teams, Manchester United and Dallas Cowboys, are both the most popular in the world for their respective sports. I like many sports and genres, seeing people train to perfect their craft and compete to be their best inspires me.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I like spending time with my family and enjoying mother nature, going on hikes or spending time near bonfires while relaxing is always the best.

If you could have coffee with anyone from the past, who would it be? Bob Marley, I’m not sure he would drink it even though great coffee comes from his country but I feel that he made such a great impact and that his good vibrations can be felt till this day, there’s a lot to learn from someone like him.

Who do you find inspiration from today? My wife, she works so hard to provide for our family and makes a great impact on the community being a very dedicated teacher, and her focus is something that I admire.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Teleport, I would like to travel many places without having to fly or drive, and I also could get back home quickly in case I get in trouble!
